Custom Deck Railings & Stairs
Railing Options
We’re often asked about composite decking, but for railings and decking alike we install PVC almost exclusively. Composite is made from wood fibers compressed and glued together with plastic, which means it can still absorb moisture, fade, and break down at the edges over time. PVC railing (also called vinyl railing) contains no wood at all, so it won’t rot, warp, or need repainting no matter how many Pittsburgh winters it sees. For homeowners who prefer a different look, we also install durable aluminum railing systems.
Stairs Built to Last
Deck stairs take a lot of abuse: foot traffic, weather, and constant weight shifting. We build stringers and treads to code with proper rise-and-run spacing, secure footings at the base, and railings that meet Pittsburgh’s building code height and baluster-spacing requirements, so you’re not left with a shaky staircase a year after installation. You don’t need a full deck rebuild to fix railings or stairs that are loose, rotted, or out of code. We handle standalone railing and stair replacements on existing decks, matching new work to what’s already there or helping you upgrade the whole look.
